About FLUTE ORCHESTRA
The Hong Kong Flute Centre is a pioneer in advocating flute orchestra activities. We regard the experience in playing in a flute orchestra is equally important, and far exceed,  the occasion of a private lesson, the opportunity to play in a music festival and preparation for any graded music examinations.  Playing in a flute orchestra gives the participated flutists the exposure to learn to play with other fellow flutists, learn to play with correct intonation, learn to cooperate and evolved in the construction of an unique ensemble. All of these are esssential and fundemental in order  to be successful as a all-rounded flutist and be connected to the world of flute.  
 
Currently, two flute orchestra organisations are formed, namely the Hong Kong Youth Flute Orchestra and "Flute HK" Flute Orchestra.
 
Established in 2003, both the Hong Kong Youth Flute Orchestra and 'Flute HK' Flute Orchestra give rise to a podium for the creation of flute ensemble music. Moreover, they serve as a platform for students,amateurs as well as professional flute players to meet, exchange and play flute ensemble music together,through which a flute orchestra culture begins to flourish.
 
Hong Kong Youth Flute Orchestra
The Hong Kong Youth Flute Orchestra, ideally, but not essential,
accommodates student players of the following requirements: 
 
- from the age of 9 & up ;
- a minimum of two years flute playing experiences;
- have achieved a playing level equivalent to Grade 3 level of the ABRSMssociated or its equivalent. 
- a passion for playing flute ensemble music 
 
 "Flute HK" Flute Orchestra,
The "Flute HK" Flute Orchestra,  ideally, but not essential,
accommodates all flute lovers of the following background:-
- from the age of 16 and up;
- a minimum of two years flute playing experience;
- a passion for playing flute ensemble music

 

Rehearsal
The orchestra meets on a regularly basis (normally bi-weekly) with public performance opportunities to enrich the overall learning process
and experiences. Rehearsals are normally run on Sunday morning from 10a.m. to 12:00p.m.  A rehearsal fee will be charged to cover rehearsal expenses.
 
Performance
 
During the past two years, both orchestras have been invited by the following
organizations for performances:-
- Radio Television Hong Kong Channel 4
- Hong Kong Youth Arts Festival
- Quality Education Funds
- International Finance Centre
- Times Square
- Pacific Place

The two groups could be combined into one if required
or they can perform as two independent ensembles.
 
Membership Application 
Memberships for both ensembles are open all year
round.  In general we welcome anyone to join the orchestras
regardless of level of playing proficiency, so long as
there is a DESIRE to play with us.  There is always a suitable part to accommodate each players. Anyone interested
